Inflation continues to rise in Istanbul

According to data released by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), an increase was recorded in consumer prices and wholesale prices in Istanbul in June. Price hikes have shown their impact across different expenditure groups.

In Istanbul, the consumer price index increased by 1.77 percent in June compared to the previous month, while it rose by 44.38 percent on an annual basis. According to ITO data, this increase has reached a notable level compared to the same period in 2024.

Housing expenditures showed the highest increase at 2.70 percent, while recreation and culture expenditures decreased by 0.07 percent. Seasonal changes in food expenditures and market conditions were also effective in the price increases.

INCREASE IN WHOLESALE PRICES

The Wholesale Price Index increased by 1.93 percent in June. On an annual basis, there was a change of 24.13 percent. While construction materials were the group with the highest increase at 6.92 percent, no change was observed in the textiles group.

When the annual average increase rates are examined, construction materials increased by 77.22 percent, textiles by 63.20 percent, chemical substances by 35.37 percent, food products by 34.86 percent, raw materials by 30.34 percent, fuel and energy by 27.19 percent, and minerals by 20.45 percent.

These data reveal that price increases in Istanbul are effective across a wide range and are reflected in economic indicators.
