Inflation message from Mehmet Şimşek following election defeat!

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek stated, "To achieve our main goal of permanently reducing inflation to single digits, we will prioritize savings by controlling public spending in addition to tight monetary, selective credit, and income policies."

According to the unofficial results of the March 31 Local Elections, the Republican People's Party (CHP) has become the leading party across Turkey with 37.74 percent of the vote.

While the election results caused a shock effect within the ruling AKP, Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek shared a post on his X (Twitter) account.

Stating, "May the local election results be auspicious for our nation and our country," Şimşek delivered a message regarding inflation.

Stating that they will continue to implement the Medium-Term Program (OVP) they announced in 2023 with determination by strengthening it, Şimşek used the following expressions in his statement;

"To achieve our main goal of permanently reducing inflation to single digits, we will prioritize savings by controlling public spending in addition to tight monetary, selective credit, and income policies.

We will achieve transformation in the economy and increase productivity and competitiveness through structural reforms that we will implement in accordance with the calendar announced in the OVP.

Thus, the permanent increase in prosperity that we will achieve by reaching our goal of sustainable growth will be shared by all segments of society.

The road to success requires perseverance, determination, and patience. We are perseverant, we are determined, we will succeed."
