The Competition Authority has decided to open a direct investigation to determine whether Unilever Sanayi ve Ticaret Türk AŞ and Magnum Dondurma AŞ have violated the Law on the Protection of Competition in the field of industrial ice cream production and sales.
The statement noted that a board decision taken on March 18, 2021, had initially mandated the implementation of certain measures in the sector, but that a preliminary investigation was concluded due to suspicions that these measures were not being followed. As a result of the evaluation, it was concluded that a comprehensive investigation is necessary to determine whether the conduct of the companies in question is contrary to competition regulations.
In the information provided by the Board, it was emphasized that the decision to launch an investigation does not mean that Unilever or Magnum have definitively violated the law or will be subject to sanctions. A final decision will be made within the framework of the evidence collected following the investigation process.
