Istanbul's February inflation figures announced: Here are the price hike champions!

According to data released by the ITO, retail prices in Istanbul increased by 3.19 percent monthly and 45.35 percent annually in February.

Inflation data for February 2025 in Istanbul has been announced. According to data from the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), the Istanbul Consumer Price Index, which tracks retail price movements, recorded a monthly increase of 3.19 percent. On an annual basis, the price increase compared to February 2024 was 45.35 percent.

In February, the highest price increase was seen in the Miscellaneous Goods and Services group at 4.14 percent, followed by Restaurants and Hotels at 4.09 percent, Housing Expenditures at 3.93 percent, and Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages at 3.41 percent. Household Goods Expenditures increased by 2.30 percent, Education Expenditures by 1.98 percent, Recreation and Culture Expenditures by 1.48 percent, and Transportation Expenditures by 1.40 percent. An increase of 0.25 percent was observed in the Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco group, and 0.14 percent in the Clothing and Footwear group.

The Health Expenditures group was the category that experienced the largest price decrease, with a drop of 0.95 percent.

According to ITO data, price hikes in products and services within the Miscellaneous Goods and Services, Restaurants and Hotels, Housing, and Food groups were influential in the overall price increase. These increases, which determine the course of inflation in Istanbul, have created a significant rise in costs for citizens' essential expenditures.
