Istanbul's price hike champion for January has been announced
In Istanbul, the highest price increase for retail products in January was seen in airline tickets, while the largest decrease was observed in women's dresses.

Price movements for January in Istanbul have been shared with the public. According to the assessment, out of 336 main products monitored during the first month of the year, 248 saw an increase, while 38 saw a decrease.
Airline ticket prices led the way in January with a 66.63 percent increase. Looking at the rates of increase, airline tickets were followed by green onions at 57.95 percent, dental examination fees at 50 percent, and eggplant at 48.83 percent. Additionally, many vegetables such as cucumbers, zucchini, green beans, and parsley recorded increases of over 36 percent. Other notable increases included hourly parking fees, domestic services, tomatoes, and various health and service fees.
Last month, increases of 24.93 percent were observed in bridge, highway, and tunnel tolls, 21.44 percent in gold jewelry, 20.27 percent in private course fees, 19.25 percent in literary books, and 16.45 percent in surgery fees.
On the other hand, there were also price decreases in January. The price of women's dresses fell by 19.52 percent, standing out as the product that became the cheapest. Clothing items such as women's coats, skirts, shirts, and jackets, as well as daily car rentals and oranges, were also among the items with decreasing prices. Price drops were also noted in children's sweatpants and women's sweaters.
Furthermore, decreasing prices were recorded for women's overcoats, children's jackets, women's shoes, and pajamas. Again, limited decreases were also observed in the prices of men's jackets and boots.
While consumers encountered rising prices, especially in transportation and food expenses in January, they saw some discounts on clothing products.
