Istanbul's price hike champion has been announced: Prices of 112 products increased

According to ITO data, the product with the highest price increase in Istanbul was lemon at 56.64 percent. Fresh beans were the product with the highest price decrease, falling by 20.84 percent. Additionally, the prices of 112 out of 242 products increased.

In June, the product with the highest price increase in Istanbul was lemon, while the product with the highest price decrease was fresh beans.

The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) announced the products with the highest retail price increases and decreases in Istanbul last June, along with their rates of change.

While the retail prices of 112 out of the 242 products included in the ITO's Istanbul Wage Earners' Cost of Living Index increased, the prices of 26 products fell, and the prices of 104 products remained unchanged.

LEMON WAS THE PRODUCT WITH THE HIGHEST PRICE INCREASE

In June, lemon, which is in the fresh and dried vegetables and fruits subgroup of the food expenditure group, was the product with the highest price increase at 56.64 percent.

Some of the other products that experienced price increases include letter postage fees from the transportation and communication expenditure group at 45.00 percent, intercity bus ticket prices from the same group at 27.66 percent, and poplin from the fabrics subgroup of clothing expenditures at 23.08 percent.

Price increases in food expenditures included green peppers from the fresh and dried vegetables and fruits subgroup at 22.30 percent, chocolate from the miscellaneous and prepared foods subgroup at 20.25 percent, and painting and whitewashing labor from the housing expenditure group at 20.05 percent.

FRESH BEANS WERE THE PRODUCT WITH THE HIGHEST PRICE DECREASE

In June 2024, fresh beans, which are in the fresh and dried vegetables and fruits subgroup of food expenditures, were the product with the highest price decrease, showing a decline of 20.84 percent.

Other products that saw a decrease in price were plums at -13.71 percent, zucchini at -11.60 percent, cherries at -9.73 percent, apricots at -9.57 percent, onions at -7.86 percent, and peas at -7.34 percent, all from the fresh and dried vegetables and fruits subgroup of food expenditures.
