Aiming to provide maximum benefit to its customers through its extensive dealer network, sales, and after-sales support, and consistently maintaining a high-quality image in the eyes of Turkish consumers, the Nissan brand's Turkish distributorship was officially established on December 17, 1993, by being registered with the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (Eminönü).

The partnership structure was formed as 60% Japanese Sumitomo and 40% BMC. Since that date, legendary models such as 25 NX Coupes, 50 Bluebirds, 10 Altimas, 550 B13-coded Sunnys, around 100 NX Coupes, and 3 200 SXs were sold. The first model imported to Turkey under its new trade name was the 1994 model Nissan Sunny (Hatchback and Sedan) 1.6, produced in Japan. The first batch of 625 vehicles was unloaded at Haydarpaşa Port on January 9, 1994. In 2000, the Sumitomo group acquired the remaining 40% of the shares, and the company's name became Nissan Otomotiv A.Ş., which remains its name today. On October 1, 2015, Nissan Global purchased all Nissan Otomotiv shares from Sumitomo. From that date until April 1, 2022, Nissan Otomotiv continued its operations under the Nissan Global AMIO region; since then, it has been affiliated with Nissan Europe and continues to serve Turkish consumers in our country's market under the AMIEO region, of which Nissan Europe is also a part. The highest sales volume in Nissan Turkey's strong historical background was achieved in 2017 with 34,822 units.

The year 2023, which also marked Nissan's 90th anniversary globally, was a year that drew attention with brand-new achievements and investments in the brand's vision. Globally, Nissan introduced its electric concept vehicles showcasing its vision for the future, specifically for its 90th anniversary. Nissan is accelerating its journey toward an all-electric future with #EV36Zero, which leads the goal of reaching 100% fully electric passenger vehicle sales in Europe by 2030. As part of Nissan's Ambition 2030 vision, which aims to provide a more sustainable and safer future for mobility, this is another important milestone in the global goal of becoming carbon neutral across the life cycle of its products by 2050.
