Latest on Borsa Istanbul: Starts with a rise

Following a buying-weighted trend yesterday, the BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul closed the day with a 0.85 percent gain at 10,828.93 points.
At the opening, the BIST 100 index rose by 50.54 points and 0.47 percent compared to the previous close, reaching 10,879.47 points. The banking index gained 0.75 percent, and the holding index gained 0.44 percent.
Among sector indices, the financial leasing and factoring sector was the top gainer with 1.26 percent, while tourism was the only loser with 0.76 percent.
In global markets, a positive trend is emerging as signals of cooling in the US labor market increase the possibility that the US Federal Reserve (Fed) may ease policy more than expected by the end of the year.
Analysts stated that today's busy data agenda will be monitored, including the Treasury cash balance domestically, and the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the Eurozone, as well as non-farm payrolls and the unemployment rate in the US. They noted that, from a technical perspective, 10,900 and 11,000 points are resistance levels for the BIST 100 index, while 10,800 and 10,700 levels serve as support.
