Lemon becomes the price hike champion in Istanbul
In Istanbul, the product with the highest price increase in July compared to the previous month was lemon, while the product with the largest decrease was the women's blouse.

The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) has announced the products with the highest price increases and decreases in Istanbul last July, along with their rates of change, in order to ensure market transparency and inform the public.
Of the 242 products included in the ITO's Istanbul Wage Earners Cost of Living Index, the retail prices of 111 products increased, 49 products decreased, and 82 products remained unchanged.
LEMON SAW THE HIGHEST PRICE INCREASE
In July, lemon, which is in the fresh and dried vegetables and fruits subgroup of the food expenditure group, was the product with the highest price increase at 53.34 percent.
Some of the other products that experienced price increases were; supplementary school books from the culture, education, and entertainment expenditure group with 50.51 percent, electricity from the housing expenditure group with 38.00 percent, fresh beans from the food expenditure fresh and dried vegetables and fruits subgroup with 33.31 percent, X-ray fees from the health and personal care expenditure group with 23.66 percent, laboratory analysis fees with 23.61 percent, and hospital surgery fees with 22.68 percent.
BLOUSE SAW THE LARGEST PRICE DECREASE
In July 2024, the blouse, which is in the women's clothing subgroup of the clothing expenditure group, was the product with the largest price decrease, declining by -18.31 percent.
Other products that saw a decrease in price were; children's blouses from the children's clothing subgroup with -13.14 percent, skirts from the women's clothing subgroup with -10.24 percent, plums from the food expenditure fresh and dried vegetables and fruits subgroup with -10.00 percent, dresses from the women's clothing subgroup with -9.73 percent, and melons with -8.73 percent, eggplants with -8.10 percent, and pears with -7.44 percent from the food expenditure fresh and dried vegetables and fruits subgroup.
