Mahfi Eğilmez's 'inflation' commentary: Is Turkey heading to the IMF?
Following the release of February inflation data by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) and the Inflation Research Group (ENAG), economist Mahfi Eğilmez pointed out that for the first time, TÜİK has announced an inflation figure higher than that of ENAG.

The Inflation Research Group (ENAG) announced February inflation at 4.34 percent on a monthly basis, while TÜİK announced it at 4.53 percent.
Thus, for the first time since ENAG was founded, TÜİK has announced a monthly inflation rate higher than that of ENAG.
Drawing attention to the issue, economist Mahfi Eğilmez asked in a post on X, "Is this preparation for the IMF?"
Eğilmez's post is as follows:
"February inflation increased by 4.53% according to TÜİK and 4.34% according to ENAG. 12-month inflation increased by 67.07% according to TÜİK and 121.98% according to ENAG. TÜİK has surpassed ENAG on a monthly basis. Is this preparation for the IMF?"
Şubat ayı enflasyonu TÜİK'e göre % 4,53, ENAG'a göre % 4,34 arttı. 12 aylık enflasyon TÜİK'e göre % 67,07, ENAG'a göre % 121,98 arttı. TÜİK, ENAG'ı aylık bazda geçti. IMF hazırlığı mı?
