Mahfi Eğilmez reacts to luxury vehicles: 'Would anyone who sees a traffic cop in a Maserati believe that inflation will fall?'

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that 23 luxury vehicles seized during operations conducted by Istanbul Police Department teams against organized crime groups have been allocated to the Police Department by court order.

In the footage released by Yerlikaya, there were models from brands known as super-luxury, worth millions of liras, such as Maserati, Ferrari, Mercedes, and BMW.

The allocation of super-luxury cars to the Police Department has become a subject of debate. Economist Mahfi Eğilmez asked, "Where in the world is there a traffic cop who goes to issue a ticket in a Maserati?"

Eğilmez offered a suggestion regarding the fate of the vehicles in question.

"Does it only seem strange to me that the luxury cars (Maserati, Ferrari, Mercedes, etc.) seized from influencers are being allocated to traffic police? 

Where in the world is there a traffic cop who goes to issue a ticket in a Maserati? 

The ticket issued by a traffic cop who arrives in a Maserati to fine a Clio wouldn't even cover the fuel costs of that car. 

You sell those cars and record the revenue to the budget, then if there is a need, you buy at least 3-4 normal cars with the money from each one and allocate them to the police. 

Do you think people who see a traffic cop riding in a Maserati or Mercedes will believe that inflation will fall?"
