The Social Security Institution (SGK) has released its 2023 annual report. The report includes data regarding the fight against informality. One of the notable details in the report is the number of people who divorced their spouses in order to receive a pension.

THEY WILL PAY WITH INTEREST

Fraud was detected in the death benefits received by children who are eligible beneficiaries following the death of an insured person. The SGK terminated the pensions of 2,418 people who continued to live with their divorced spouses.

Furthermore, these individuals are required to repay the salaries they received, along with retroactive interest. Last year, a total of 101,794 workplaces were inspected. It was revealed that 1,533 workplaces were fraudulent. As a result of all these findings, a total of 1.2 billion TL in fines was issued.
