The Ankara Provincial Police Department's Public Security Branch, Burglary and Pickpocketing Bureau teams launched an investigation into the theft of diamonds worth 26 thousand dollars, 52 quarter gold coins, and 35 thousand liras from an address in the Çubuk district.
THEY WERE MEETING IN ANKARA WITH LUXURY VEHICLES
Police teams, who identified the burglars behind the incident in a short time, placed the suspects under physical surveillance. It was subsequently determined that the suspects were members of a burglary gang that called themselves the "Masked Five."
It was also determined that the suspects acted in connection with each other as Istanbul and Ankara groups, met in Ankara using luxury vehicles of different brands, and in order to avoid being caught, attached different license plates to the vehicles they used in the incidents, and carried out the thefts while masked and wearing gloves so their faces would not be recognized.
Following the information obtained as a result of the surveillance, the teams took action for the operation and apprehended 4 of the suspects in Ankara and 5 of them in Kocaeli while they were attempting to flee to Istanbul.
The suspects were referred to the courthouse following their processing at the Ankara Police Department.
