Aydın Tüfekçi, President of the Istanbul Butchers Chamber, announced that with the 15 TL hike in carcass meat effective February 13, this increase will be reflected to the consumer as 20-30 liras. It was stated that the increase has created a supply shortage as livestock farmers are not sending their animals for slaughter.

Speaking to Ekonomim.com, Istanbul Butchers Chamber President Aydın Tüfekçi said, “Livestock farmers did not send their animals to the slaughterhouse due to the expectation that meat prices would rise. This created a supply shortage in the market. The price of carcass meat was increased by 15 TL on a regional basis. Butchers will begin implementing this as of February 13.”

Tüfekçi added that the 15 lira price increase on carcass meat would reflect as 20-30 liras for the consumer.
