Mehmet Şimşek announces: Treasury and Finance Ministry adjusts provincial organizations for austerity

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek made an assessment regarding the work to be carried out in local accounting offices as part of public austerity and efficiency efforts.

Reminding that local accounting offices, which are one of his ministry's provincial organizations, provide accounting and other treasury services, Şimşek said, "With the Presidential Circular on austerity measures, I have given the instruction for the restructuring of the local accounting offices under my Ministry. A total of 300 local accounting offices will be closed, with 100 in the first phase and 200 in the second phase. The duties performed by these local accounting offices will henceforth be carried out by provincial centers or another local accounting office selected according to certain criteria through service consolidation."

Minister Şimşek stated that this change, to be made within the scope of restructuring the Ministry's provincial organizations, aims to achieve goals such as ensuring efficiency in public resource utilization, increasing service quality, technological transformation and digitalization, and personnel and workforce management.

"UNNECESSARY EXPENDITURES WILL BE PREVENTED"

Pointing out that the step taken will provide significant savings in the resources allocated to provincial organizations, Şimşek assessed, "Resources will be used more efficiently, and unnecessary expenditures will be prevented. As part of increasing service quality, conducting accounting services from the center using modern information technologies will accelerate business processes and reduce error rates. Thus, the quality of public service provided to our citizens will increase even further."

Şimşek stated that they will accelerate digital transformation in public financial management with new technological systems and encourage the effective use of information technologies, emphasizing that this transformation will make a significant contribution to making public services more transparent and traceable.

"NO COMPROMISE ON SERVICE QUALITY"

Drawing attention to the importance of workforce management in this context, Şimşek noted the following:

"With the new regulation, our personnel resources will be used more efficiently, and it will be possible to employ our employees in areas suitable for their competencies. Thus, workforce productivity will be further increased. As the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, we believe that the restructuring of our provincial organizations will make significant contributions to our country's public financial management system. Within the scope of the circular on austerity measures, we, as a Ministry, have taken an important step for effectiveness and efficiency in public services. I will continue these activities within my Ministry. While downsizing the public sector through technology, we will not compromise on service quality; there will be no disruption whatsoever in the services our directorates have carried out to date."
