Midday in the markets: Latest status on the stock exchange, gold, euro, and dollar (January 16, 2024)

The BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul completed the first half of the day with a 0.33 percent decrease at 8,017.38 points.

As of 1:00 PM, the index had decreased by 26.64 points compared to the previous close. The BIST 100 index, which closed at 8,044.02 points yesterday, started the day at 8,063.12 points with an increase of 19.10 points and 0.24 percent.

During the first half of the day, the index saw a low of 7,994.96 points and a high of 8,090.14 points.

In the first half of the day, the financial index lost 0.59 percent, the services index 0.23 percent, and the industrial index 0.05 percent, while the technology index gained 0.22 percent in value.

Compared to the previous close, 38 of the stocks included in the BIST 100 index rose, while 59 lost value during the first half of the day. The most actively traded stocks were Turkish Airlines, Türkiye İş Bankası (C), Akbank, Tüpraş, and Turkcell İletişim Hizmetleri.

GOLD OUNCE PRICE AT 2,040 DOLLARS

As of 1:00 PM, the simple yield of the benchmark bond maturing on October 1, 2025, traded in the Borsa Istanbul Bond and Bill Market Outright Purchase and Sale Market, was at 37.79 percent, and the compound yield was at 41.36 percent.

In international markets, as of 1:00 PM, the euro/dollar parity was at 1.0890, the sterling/dollar parity at 1.2640, and the dollar/yen parity at 146.6.

In the Istanbul free market, the dollar is being sold at 30.1020 liras and the euro at 32.8010 liras.

The ounce of gold is trading at 2,040 dollars in international markets with a 0.8 percent decrease, while a barrel of London Brent crude oil is trading at 78.4 dollars with a 0.6 percent gain in value.
