TÜRK-İŞ had announced that it would not share a figure before coming to the table regarding the minimum wage. While it has been stated that there will be no interim raise next year, Economist Murat Batı, in his column for T24, provided a figure for the minimum wage and stated that an emphasis could be placed on the 100th anniversary.
The relevant sections of Batı's article are as follows:
"I PREDICT IT WILL BE SERVICED TO THE PRESS AS A 100 PERCENT RAISE"
Minimum wage negotiations will begin any day now. In the minimum wage negotiations/bargaining, the state (Ministry of Labor), employer representatives (TİSK), and worker representatives (TÜRK-İŞ) will come together and determine the minimum wage amount for the new period. Four minimum wage earners will also be at the table as representatives.
I predict that in 2024, the maximum gross minimum wage will be 20,016 TL, the net will be 17,013 TL, and the daily gross minimum wage will be 667.20 TL.
The reason is this; if an increase of approximately 49 percent is made compared to the first six months of 2023, the net minimum wage will be 17,103 TL, and I predict that this increase rate will not be presented as approximately 49 percent, but rather, by taking the amount in January 2023 as a base (from 8,506 TL to 17,013 TL), it will be serviced to the press as a 100 percent raise for the minimum wage in the 100th year of the Republic.
HOW MUCH WILL THE MINIMUM WAGE BE?
So, to find the answer to the question of how much it will increase this year, one must look at the extent to which Erdoğan and Şimşek agree. If they act in accordance with Erdoğan's local election promises, I think it will increase by at most in the 40-50 percent range. I would also like to state that otherwise, it could be lower.
