No figures have emerged yet from the Minimum Wage Determination Commission, which met twice on December 10 and December 16. All eyes have turned to the commission's third meeting.

WHEN AND AT WHAT TIME IS THE MINIMUM WAGE MEETING?

The Minimum Wage Determination Commission will meet for the third time today (December 19). The meeting will begin at 11:30 AM.

In the critical meeting, the employer side will be represented by the Turkish Confederation of Employer Associations (TİSK), and the worker side will be represented by TÜRK-İŞ, as it is the confederation with the most members.

MINISTER IŞIKHAN: WE ARE NOW EXPECTING A PROPOSAL FROM THE WORKER AND EMPLOYER SIDES

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan, who will chair the commission's third meeting, said, "We are now expecting a proposal from our worker and employer sides."

Işıkhan stated, "Hopefully, after receiving this proposal, we will meet with our chairmen again, and we intend to conclude it within the coming week."

When asked whether there would be a fourth meeting, Işıkhan replied, "Let us hold our third meeting first. We will look at the situation after that. But we are now waiting for the wage proposals to come to our commission."

HOW MUCH WILL THE 2025 MINIMUM WAGE BE?

Whether the minimum wage hike will be based on year-end inflation or target inflation has been debated for some time. Different scenarios regarding the hike estimates are being discussed.

In the markets, the possibility of an increase in the range of 30-40 percent for the minimum wage is being emphasized.

The prevailing view in the business world is that the minimum wage should be increased to the level of 22-23 thousand liras.

Expectations in the reports of foreign institutions have also taken shape in the 25-30 percent range.
