Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry increases many support items to be implemented in 2023 by 100-150 percent

According to the written statement made by the Ministry, the "Communiqué on the Implementation of Livestock Supports" has been published in the Official Gazette and entered into force, effective from January 1.

An increase of 100-150 percent has been made in many support items aimed at ensuring sustainability and productivity in livestock.

In this context, the herd manager (shepherd) support, which was 12 thousand liras in 2022, has been increased by 150 percent to 30 thousand liras in 2023. The ram and buck purchase support will be implemented as 2 thousand liras per animal in 2023 in order to ensure small ruminant breeding and to increase productivity and herd quality.

While calf support was provided up to 900 TL/head in 2022 if the criteria were met, it has been increased by 133 percent to 2 thousand 100 TL/head for 2023. This support will be provided for every calf born in 2023.

The heifer purchase support will begin to be implemented at a 50 percent grant rate for disease-free enterprises.

The brood sheep and goat support, which was 50 TL/head in 2022, has been increased by 100 percent to 100 TL/head for 2023.

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı, whose views were included in the statement, stated that increasing the income obtained from livestock and raising the welfare of both producers and animals are their basic strategies.

Pointing out that they provide support to breeders with the aim of obtaining higher quality products with more yield per animal, and ensuring that products are preserved, delivered to the market, and sold at their value, Yumaklı stated that they also practice positive discrimination for young people and women, especially in family farming.

Minister Yumaklı drew attention to the fact that they have increased the livestock supports provided in 21 items by 100 percent, and in some items by 150 percent, and used the following expressions:

"With the new supports we provide, it is aimed to ensure the sustainability of enterprises, reduce losses caused by infrastructure and equipment deficiencies, increase productivity and quality, increase producer incomes, and reduce migration from rural to urban areas and regional development disparities. It is of great importance that our breeders and producers comply with the conditions in the communiqué in order to benefit from the supports. I wish our supports to be beneficial and bring abundance to our breeders."
