Ministry of Trade announces: Which province ranked first in exports?

According to the statement made by the Ministry of Trade, exports in April 2024 increased by 0.1 percent compared to the same month last year, reaching 19 billion 271 million dollars, while in the January-April period, they increased by 2.7 percent to reach 82 billion 873 million dollars.

ISTANBUL IN FIRST PLACE

Istanbul was the province with the highest exports in April, with 4 billion 75 million dollars. The city's exports decreased by 6.6 percent compared to the same month last year. Istanbul was followed by Kocaeli with 2 billion dollars and a 2.9 percent increase, and İzmir with 1 billion 843 million dollars and a 2.8 percent increase.

WHICH PRODUCT WAS EXPORTED THE MOST?

The precious or semi-precious stones chapter ranked first in Istanbul's exports with 776 million 999 thousand dollars. This chapter was followed by knitted clothing and accessories with 399 million 609 thousand dollars, and boilers and machinery with 392 million 187 thousand dollars.

In Kocaeli's exports, motor land vehicles were the sector with the highest external sales, totaling 760 million 680 thousand dollars. This chapter was followed by mineral fuels and mineral oils with 364 million 242 thousand dollars, and iron and steel with 169 million 599 thousand dollars.

In İzmir's exports, mineral fuels and mineral oils ranked first with 554 million 332 thousand dollars. This chapter was followed by boilers and machinery with 169 million 739 thousand dollars, and iron and steel with 127 million 397 thousand dollars.

ISTANBUL EXPORTED MOST TO THE UK

In Istanbul's exports, the UK ranked first with 340 million 313 thousand dollars. This country was followed by Germany with 294 million 918 thousand dollars and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with 252 million 439 thousand dollars.

Kocaeli, on the other hand, made its highest exports to Germany with 175 million 891 thousand dollars. This country was followed by the UK with 163 million 268 thousand dollars and the USA with 145 million 63 thousand dollars.

The country to which İzmir exported the most was Romania with 211 million 176 thousand dollars. This country was followed by Germany with 165 million 772 thousand dollars and the USA with 118 million 99 thousand dollars.

WHICH PROVINCE INCREASED ITS EXPORTS?

Hatay was recorded as the province that increased its exports the most in April, with a 78 percent increase compared to the same month last year, reaching 497 million dollars. In the January-April 2024 period, 17 provinces exported over 1 billion dollars, and 54 provinces increased their exports.

The statement, which noted that the Ministry continues its efforts with determination to increase exports through policies and strategies aimed at market and product diversification within the perspective of high value-added and competitive exports, included the following expression: "On the other hand, we aim for exports to spread strongly across our country. We are targeting a more prosperous Turkey as a result of the production and employment growth achieved locally."
