Today, a report published in Gerçek Gündem titled "Mehmet Şimşek has made his decision, appointments in public banks are finalized: Who will be dismissed?" has been denied by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance.
The report had claimed that the names to be appointed ahead of the public bank general assemblies were on the desk of Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek and that the administration would continue with only two public bank general managers.
The report further noted that at the general assembly to be held on June 6, Ziraat Bank General Manager Alpaslan Çakar and Halkbank General Manager Osman Arslan would continue in their roles, while the terms of Exim Bank General Manager and VakıfBank General Manager Abdi Serdar, Vakıf Katılım General Manager Mehmet Ali Akbel, and Vakıf Katılım Chairman of the Board Öztürk Oran would be terminated.
DENIAL FROM THE MINISTRY
In a statement made on the Ministry of Treasury and Finance's X account, it was stated: "The website named Gerçek Gündem has been publishing untrue reports attributing statements to our Minister in recent days. Today, it has been observed that they have continued their reports, which are understood to be deliberate and made for a specific purpose, under the headline 'Mehmet Şimşek has made his decision, appointments are finalized'.
These reports are merely speculative and are their own desk-fabricated inventions. Do not give credence to them."
