Ministry takes action: Fines have begun

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu issued a written statement. In his statement, Uraloğlu noted that there was a high volume of intercity bus travel during the Ramadan Feast holiday, pointing out that they had taken measures and conducted inspections on the roads and in passenger transport due to the 9-day holiday. Uraloğlu noted that, as a result, citizens were able to travel comfortably and peacefully throughout the holiday.

Stating that they carried out inspections in the field 24/7 with ministry teams and law enforcement, Uraloğlu said, "We effectively carried out our bus inspections across the country so that our citizens could complete their journeys in a peaceful, comfortable, and safe manner."

ADMINISTRATIVE FINES IMPOSED

Uraloğlu emphasized that inspections were carried out with great diligence to prevent the sale of bus tickets at exorbitant prices, noting that operators who did not comply with the fare tariffs reported to the Ministry were examined one by one and the necessary administrative fines were imposed.

Stating that there was a high volume of intercity bus travel during the Ramadan Feast holiday, Uraloğlu shared the information that, "Since April 5, 80 thousand 195 bus trips have been carried out, and 2 million 759 thousand 818 passengers have been transported on these trips."

Emphasizing that they acted in cooperation with ministry teams and law enforcement, Uraloğlu made the following assessment:

"In addition to the electronic inspections carried out via U-ETDS for intercity bus travel, 4 thousand 810 buses were inspected at passenger terminals, on roadsides, and at highway inspection stations, primarily to prevent the sale of tickets at exorbitant prices and to curb illegal transport. Within the scope of the inspections, 5 million 321 thousand 223 liras in administrative fines were imposed on bus operators who applied fare tariffs contrary to the Road Transport Law and sold tickets at exorbitant prices. In addition, 1 million 269 thousand liras in administrative fines were imposed on bus operators for illegal transport, picking up or dropping off passengers at unauthorized points, or other irregularities we detected."
