As the series of increases in fuel prices continues, the possibility of another hike for diesel has come onto the agenda. With the latest adjustment, diesel was raised by 3.12 TL and gasoline by 1.14 TL. However, the rapid rise in the ton price of diesel in global markets has increased expectations that another hike could be reflected in pump prices in the new week.

Sector sources said there was a possibility of a new increase in diesel on Tuesday or Wednesday. The sources said, “There is a rapid rise in question. In the new week, market data to be formed on Monday will determine whether there will be a hike and its amount.”

RAPID RISE IN GLOBAL MARKETS

With the impact of the US-Iran war and escalating tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, prices of Brent crude and fuel products in global markets continue to rise. Brent crude is said to be trading at the 85-dollar level, while the metric ton price of diesel has also risen to 1180 dollars.

The increase in the ton price of diesel appears to have accelerated in recent days. The price in question was at 950 dollars on July 8, 1000 dollars on July 13, and 1135 dollars on July 16. If this rise continues, diesel prices are said to move a little closer to 80 TL with a new hike that could be made at the start of the week.
