Following the increase in grievances due to counterfeit money, the Banks Association of Turkey (TBB) and authorities have taken action.
PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE LAUNCHES INVESTIGATION
Upon suspicions that counterfeit dollars were being circulated in Istanbul, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched a large-scale investigation. Authorities, who are tracking the counterfeit banknotes allegedly printed abroad, are continuing their efforts to uncover the fraud network.
TECHNOLOGICAL UPDATES ACTIVATED
The Banks Association of Turkey announced that comprehensive updates have been made to ATMs, money counting machines, and counterfeit money detection systems as part of the fight against counterfeit dollars. With the new systems, it will be ensured that counterfeit banknotes are instantly detected and rejected by ATMs.
TRANSACTIONS TO BE COMPLETED WITHIN 7-10 DAYS
Experts stated that the updates will be completed within approximately one week. Thanks to the new system, the risk of counterfeit money will be minimized, and the financial losses of citizens will be prevented.
