The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) has granted banks more flexibility by extending the credit growth calculation periods from 4 weeks to 8 weeks. With the new regulation published in the Official Gazette, while the credit growth rates remain the same, the calculation period has been extended.

Economist Haluk Bürümcekçi stated that this change would provide banks with flexibility. Bürümcekçi said, "Banks will now be able to act more comfortably within the 8-week period. For example, banks that cannot comply in the first 4 weeks can establish a balance in the remaining 4 weeks."

Regarding whether this regulation is a signal of easing, Bürümcekçi commented, "The decision does not bring a major easing to credit facilities, but it does provide a small amount of flexibility. While there is no quantitative change, it can be considered a fine-tuning."
