New era in poppy purchasing: The authorized public institution for buying and selling has changed
With a Presidential Decree, the authority for the buying and selling processes of poppy capsules and seeds has been transferred to the Turkish Grain Board (TMO). Price and quantity determination will be carried out by obtaining the opinion of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance.

According to the new regulation published in the Official Gazette, the Turkish Grain Board (TMO) has been authorized for the purchase and sale of poppy capsules and seeds.
TMO will obtain the opinion of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance when determining the price and quantity of these products. Furthermore, the procedures and principles to be applied during the buying and selling periods will also be determined by TMO.
Another change made in the decision was the update of the phrase "duty loss and calculation method" to "assignment fee and calculation method." In this context, losses that may arise from the export of poppy capsules and their derivatives, as well as the production, distribution, and sale of poppy seeds, will be considered as an assignment fee, and this fee will be covered by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance.
