TÜRK-İŞ President Ergün Atalay made a statement regarding the minimum wage, which concerns millions of workers, saying, “It is not right for us to voice a figure. Let us see what they offer; then we will determine our stance. We will bring the proposal to the Board of Presidents and make our decision there.”

The Minimum Wage Determination Commission will hold its first meeting on December 11.
As millions of workers turn their eyes and ears to the critical meeting, a new statement has come from TÜRK-İŞ President Ergün Atalay.
According to Bülent Aydemir from Habertürk, Atalay emphasized that 2 female and 2 male minimum-wage workers will take part in the commission and will explain to the government and employer representatives at the table how workers are unable to make ends meet, stating that they will not discuss figures before seeing the government's proposal.
"IT IS NOT RIGHT FOR US TO VOICE A FIGURE"
When asked what they would do if the government came with a proposal around the hunger threshold, which is calculated at approximately 14 thousand TL, Atalay said, “Then we will walk away from the table. That would not be acceptable.” Stating that they would never accept a wage such as 14 thousand 250 TL, which some government officials have mentioned and which corresponds to a 25 percent increase, Atalay said, “It is not right for us to voice a figure. Let us see what they offer; then we will determine our stance. We will bring the proposal to the Board of Presidents and make our decision there.”
Atalay stated that, considering that there will be no increase to the minimum wage for one year, an increase that will provide for livelihoods until the end of the year must be made.
