New record in short-term external debt! CBRT announced
The short-term external debt stock, with a maturity of one year or less, rose to a new record level of 227.5 billion dollars in February, following the January figures.

According to data from the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT), the short-term external debt stock in February decreased by 0.9 percent compared to the end of 2023, reaching 173.6 billion dollars.
During this period, the short-term external debt stock originating from banks increased by 2.2 percent to 69.9 billion dollars, while the short-term external debt stock of other sectors decreased by 4.5 percent to 57.7 billion dollars.
As of the end of February 2024, the short-term external debt stock calculated based on remaining maturity—using external debt data with a remaining maturity of 1 year or less, regardless of the original maturity—stood at 227.5 billion dollars.
