New statement from Vedat Işıkhan regarding the minimum wage hike

Eyes have turned to the Minimum Wage Determination Commission meeting on December 10 for the minimum wage hike that millions of employees are eagerly awaiting.

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan made statements regarding the minimum wage ahead of the critical meeting.

Minister Işıkhan said, "We will never let the salary increases of all our wage earners, especially minimum wage earners; our workers, civil servants, fixed-income earners, and retirees be crushed by excessive greed for profit and the exorbitant prices of opportunists. The stance of our government and our ministries on this issue is clear. We invite you to cooperate on this matter as well."

WAGE NEGOTIATIONS BEGIN TOMORROW

The process for determining the new minimum wage, which directly concerns nearly 7 million employees and indirectly the entire society, will officially begin tomorrow.

The Minimum Wage Determination Commission, consisting of representatives from workers, employers, and the government, will hold its first meeting tomorrow at 16:00 as part of the efforts to determine the minimum wage that will be valid in 2025.

WHAT FIGURES ARE BEING DISCUSSED?

Different scenarios ranging from 20 percent to 41 percent are being discussed in the public eye for the hike rate.

Accordingly, the figures reflected in the public domain are as follows:

• If a 20 percent hike is implemented, the minimum wage will be 20 thousand 402 liras.

• If a 25 percent hike is implemented, the minimum wage will be 21 thousand 252 liras.

• If a 30 percent hike is implemented, the minimum wage will be 22 thousand 102 liras.

• If a 30 percent hike is implemented, the minimum wage will be 22 thousand 527 liras.

• If a 35 percent hike is implemented, the minimum wage will be 22 thousand 502 liras.

• If a 40 percent hike is implemented, the minimum wage will be 23 thousand 802 liras.

• If a 41 percent hike is implemented, the minimum wage will be 23 thousand 972 liras.
