New year hikes for taxes and fees are becoming clear: What will the revaluation rate be?

Eyes have turned to the producer price index (PPI) data for the increase rate to be applied to taxes, fees, and fines in the new year. It is stated that the revaluation rate, which was applied at 25.49 percent this year, could rise to a level close to 28 percent in 2027 based on current calculations.

The August PPI data to be announced tomorrow, along with the realizations in September and October, will be decisive for the final level of the revaluation rate. If the monthly PPI increases in the August-October period are close to last year's levels, the rate will reach 27.9 percent.

According to a report by Erdoğan Süzer from Sözcü Newspaper, if the monthly average PPI increases by 2 percent during this period, the revaluation rate will be 27.66 percent; if it increases by an average of 2.5 percent per month, it will reach 29.01 percent.

WHICH ITEMS WILL BE AFFECTED?

If the government does not go for a reduction in the increase rates, an increase of up to 28 percent will be on the agenda for many items starting from the new year, such as mobile phone IMEI registration fees, motor vehicle tax, driver's license and passport fees, international departure fees, initial mobile subscription fees, and traffic fines.

In the event that the August-October PPI follows a trend close to last year's levels, it is calculated that the initial cost of obtaining a Class B driver's license will rise to 11 thousand 354 liras. The stamp duty paid for tax returns by taxpayers who are required to declare their income to the Treasury is expected to rise to 1 thousand 522 liras.

It is stated that if the President does not exercise their authority to reduce the rates, the lowest motor vehicle tax will rise to 7 thousand 360 liras, the 10-year passport fee to 18 thousand 895 liras, and the international departure fee to 1 thousand 600 liras.
