Increased by 785 thousand in the last year: Number of millionaires in Turkey revealed
In the last year, the number of savers with 1 million lira or more in deposits increased by 785 thousand, exceeding 2.3 million. The total deposits of these individuals in banks approached 17 trillion lira, reaching a record level.

As of April 2025, the number of domestic and foreign resident depositors with 1 million lira or more in their accounts increased by 785 thousand 350 people compared to the same period last year, reaching 2 million 377 thousand 32. Last year, this figure was 1 million 591 thousand 682. The total deposit amount in this group grew by approximately 5 trillion lira, rising from 11 trillion 830 billion lira to 16 trillion 999 billion lira.
According to the report in Nefes, the number of domestic resident depositors alone increased by 744 thousand 548 people in the last year, rising from 1 million 432 thousand 391 to 2 million 176 thousand 939. The total savings of these individuals in banks also rose from 10 trillion 849 billion lira to 15 trillion 740 billion lira. According to data from the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), each domestic depositor with 1 million lira or more in deposits has an average of 7 million 230 thousand lira in assets.
The April 2025 data revealed that of the total deposits belonging to domestic millionaires, 10 trillion 49 billion 508 million lira was held in Turkish lira, 4 trillion 476 billion 592 million lira in foreign currency deposit accounts, and 1 trillion 213 billion 957 million lira in precious metal deposit accounts.
On the other hand, the number of depositors residing abroad with 1 million lira or more in their accounts also increased by 40 thousand 802 people compared to the same period last year, rising to 200 thousand 93. The increase in these individuals' deposits reached 278 billion 453 million lira. Of these deposits, 390 billion 964 million lira was recorded in Turkish lira.
