Number of paid employees in Turkey increased by 3.4% compared to last year

According to data for August, there was an increase in the number of paid employees.

As of August 2023, the number of paid employees across Turkey showed a 3.4% increase compared to the same month of the previous year. The number of paid employees, which was recorded as 14 million 786 thousand 761 in August 2022, rose to 15 million 289 thousand 258 in August of this year. The published statistics revealed that there is growth in Turkey's employment sector.

When looking at the sectoral performance of paid employees, interesting details emerge. While a 0.1% increase was observed in the industrial sector on an annual basis, this increase was recorded as 12.6% in the construction sector. In the trade and service sectors, the number of paid employees increased by 3.7%. The data showed that the construction sector made a significant contribution to growth.

Furthermore, according to TÜİK data, the number of paid employees also increased on a monthly basis. The number of paid employees, which increased by 0.1% in August 2023 compared to the previous month, indicated that there was also an improvement in the labor market on a monthly basis.

When we look at the monthly changes between sectors, a 0.3% decrease was experienced in the industrial sector, while a 0.3% increase was recorded in the construction sector and a 0.2% increase in the trade-service sector.
