Operations ending at major facility: Coca-Cola to halt production!

Coca-Cola, one of the world's leading beverage companies, has officially begun the process of closing its Northampton bottling plant operating in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. With the closure decision, the employment of 175 staff members working at the facility will be terminated.

LAYOFFS TO BE CARRIED OUT IN TWO PHASES

According to the Massachusetts Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) system records, the company filed the official notice on June 15.

It was reported that the first phase of the layoffs will take place on August 15, 2026, and the second phase on November 30, 2026.

MINUTE MAID AND POWERADE WERE PRODUCED HERE

The bottling operations for Coca-Cola's non-carbonated beverage brands, including Minute Maid and Powerade, were carried out at the Northampton facility.

The company first announced that the factory in question would be closed in 2021, stating that the facility would cease operations in 2023. However, the closure process was subsequently postponed.

REASON IS RESTRUCTURING OF THE PRODUCTION NETWORK

Coca-Cola stated that the closure of the facility is part of an "asset optimization" strategy implemented to adapt to changing consumer demands and to reorganize its production network.

The company also announced that it is working in cooperation with state officials to direct the affected employees toward new employment opportunities.
