The Palace spends 39 million a day, retirees cannot make ends meet! 'The nation is hungry, the Palace is chasing luxury'

CHP's Burhanettin Bulut noted that the Presidential Palace spent 1 billion 779 million 281 thousand TL in January, 1 billion 313 thousand 737 TL in February, 542 million 22 thousand TL in March, 1 billion 710 million 494 thousand TL in April, and 652 million 899 thousand TL in May, totaling 5 billion 998 million 432 thousand TL. 

DAILY EQUIVALENT OF 2,746 RETIREE PENSIONS

Stating that the Palace spent approximately 39 million 725 thousand TL per day in the first five months of the year, Bulut said, "The Palace's expenditure in just one day is equivalent to approximately 2,746 retiree pensions and 1,798 minimum wages. While the nation struggles with hunger, the Palace lives in splendor with the nation's money. At a time when citizens are tightening their belts, when low-income earners and retirees are struggling more, and when it has become difficult to fill a grocery bag, the Palace's extravagance creates deep discomfort in the public conscience." 

PENSIONS MUST BE INCREASED

Expressing that the exorbitant increases in basic items such as food, rent, and energy have seriously reduced the public's purchasing power, Bulut stated, "It is unacceptable for the Palace to indulge in luxury and waste with the people's money while retirees cannot make ends meet with a 14,469 TL pension and minimum wage earners wonder how to support their households with 22,104 TL. Instead of living in splendor with the nation's money, the Palace should use these resources for the welfare of the people; retiree pensions must be increased, and the minimum wage must be raised to a level that provides a humane standard of living."
