An Airbus A320-232 type aircraft parked at Istanbul Atatürk Airport, which lacks an engine, has been put up for sale due to tax debt.
The 1996 model aircraft belongs to Onur Air and had previously failed to find a buyer despite being put up for auction twice. Now, the Large Taxpayers Office is attempting to sell it through a bargaining process.
According to NTV, the aircraft's engine, APU power unit, and some connection parts are missing. It is also stated that there are deficiencies in the wings and under the fuselage. Since no photos of the aircraft's interior have been shared, there is no clear information regarding its current condition. Technical teams need to conduct a detailed inspection regarding the aircraft's airworthiness. Some engine parts thought to belong to the aircraft are also being stored in the hangar.
Those interested in the aircraft will be allowed to conduct a group inspection on a designated day if they apply to the tax office by presenting a petition and identification after obtaining permission from the Atatürk Airport Civil Administrative Authority.
4.6 MILLION TL DEPOSIT REQUIRED, THE PRICE IS SURPRISING
The estimated value of the aircraft offered for sale has been set at 92 million TL, and buyers are required to deposit 4 million 600 thousand TL. Additionally, 20 percent Value Added Tax (VAT) will be added to the sale price.
In Turkey, it is a common practice to convert engine-less aircraft into restaurants or cafes. It is a matter of curiosity whether this aircraft will be utilized in a similar manner.
