Poverty line exceeds 85,000 TL

According to the study conducted by TÜRK-İŞ, the monthly food expenditure required for a family of four living in Ankara to have a healthy and balanced diet, known as the hunger threshold, has risen to 26,115 TL. This figure, which was 20,561.65 TL the previous month, rose to 21,083.28 TL in June. In addition to food expenditures, the total amount spent on basic needs such as clothing, housing, transportation, education, and health, defined as the poverty line, reached 85,066 TL.

According to TÜRK-İŞ data, food prices increased by 4.08 percent on a monthly basis and 37.60 percent on an annual basis in June. The cost of living for a single employee was determined to be 33,586.82 TL per month.

The following statements were included in the announcement by TÜRK-İŞ:

"As of June 2025, the monthly food expenditure amount that a family of four living in Ankara must make to be able to eat healthily, balanced, and sufficiently has risen to 26,115.18 TL. The total of other mandatory expenditures along with food expenditure has been calculated as 85,065.75 TL."

According to kitchen inflation data, the increase in food expenditures for a family of four was 4.08 percent compared to the previous month. While the annual rate of change was 37.60 percent, the annual average increase was recorded as 44.58 percent.

The rate of change for the first six months of the year was determined to be 23.87 percent.
