In the free market, the price of raw milk has risen from 12 liras to 15 liras per liter. The increase has also begun to be reflected on store shelves.
In chain supermarkets, the price of 1-liter private label milk with 3.1 percent fat has increased from 21.5 liras to 24 liras. Industry representatives state that the 2.5 lira hike stems from the rise in the producer milk price to 15 liras.
According to a report in the Dünya newspaper, industry representatives, who reported that 15.5 liras began to be demanded for raw milk in Thrace today, say that some cooperative heads have started to quote 15.5 liras. It is stated that there is no major problem with raw milk and that increases in milk supply will begin within 15-20 days. Sharing that there is a price formed in the free market in addition to the recommended base price of the National Milk Council (USK), representatives also convey that a premium of 10 percent can be given at a certain rate for high-quality milk. Representatives state that there was a period when prices were kept down despite rising costs, but that there is no such pressure at the moment.
