Expectations are rising for the 2024 minimum wage increase, which concerns millions of employees. Journalist Cem Küçük, known for his proximity to the government, shared insider information he obtained regarding the minimum wage on the program he hosts on TGRT.
"WHATEVER THE INFLATION IS, THAT WILL BE GIVEN"
Relaying his conversation with Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, Küçük said, "As for the minimum wage, whatever the inflation is, that will be given. Nothing extra is expected."
Küçük's statements are as follows:
"A study is being conducted for civil servants. A regulation is being worked on for retirees. It seems like a raise above inflation will be given. We don't know the figure. Erdoğan will announce the final figure. We must not make concessions. Turkey is in no state to handle this. The best possible thing will be given for retirees. As for the minimum wage, whatever the inflation is, that will be given. Nothing extra is expected. He stated that claims of a rift with Erdoğan do not reflect the truth. There is a need for foreign currency. He went to France yesterday as well."
