Pro-government journalist Cem Küçük reveals figure for minimum wage hike

Journalist Cem Küçük shared his forecast for the minimum wage increase for January 2024 on the 'Günaydın Türkiye' program.

"IT IS EXPECTED TO BE AROUND 15-16 THOUSAND LIRAS"

Küçük reminded that the expected inflation for 2024 is around 33 percent, and the expected inflation for the second half of 2024 is 38 percent. Küçük said, “The minimum wage increase is also expected to occur between these two figures. In other words, if it comes out at 38 percent, that is around 40 percent, which is expected to be more or less 4 thousand 400 liras, or around 15 thousand something or 16 thousand.”

HOW MUCH WILL THE MINIMUM WAGE BE IN THE NEW YEAR?

Continuing his remarks on the minimum wage hike, Cem Küçük said, “According to these calculations, the expectation formed in the public is around 35 percent. Based on both the statements made by the government wing and the opinion formed in the public, it is estimated that the minimum wage will exceed 15 thousand liras in the new year.”

In the continuation of his speech, Cem Küçük said, “According to the current plan, with a 35 percent minimum wage increase, salaries are expected to rise to the level of 15 thousand 400 liras.”
