The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has announced the inflation figures for 2023. Accordingly, the change in the consumer price index (CPI) in October 2023 was 3.43 percent compared to the previous month, 55.00 percent compared to December of the previous year, 61.36 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, and 54.26 percent according to the twelve-month averages.
With the announcement of the inflation figures, the products that saw the highest monthly price increases and those that saw the largest decreases or the smallest increases were revealed. In October, the product with the highest price increase was children's clothing at 22.40 percent. Other products were as follows: intercity passenger transport by rail at 17.73 percent, women's clothing at 16.84 percent, women's footwear at 16.14 percent, eggs and egg-related products at 10.78 percent, men's clothing at 10.20 percent, confectionery, chocolates, and cocoa products at 9.47 percent, vegetables (excluding potatoes and some tuber vegetables) at 9.15 percent, lamb at 8.83 percent, and dried fruits and nuts at 8.57 percent.
THOSE WITH THE LARGEST PRICE DECREASES
The products that experienced the largest price decreases last month were as follows: "Passenger transport by air at 12.97 percent, fresh fruits at 5.69 percent, intercity passenger transport by road at 4.57 percent, hotels, pensions, and others at 3.10 percent, fuels and lubricants for personal transport vehicles at 2.15 percent, package tours at 0.89 percent, automobiles (gasoline) at 0.67 percent, cheese at 0.29 percent, and kitchen furniture at 0.13 percent."
