Public transport fare hike in Bursa

Public transport fares in Bursa have been increased. The 30 percent hike went into effect as of February 1, 2025.

The new ticket prices were announced as follows:

Full Ticket: 26 TL; for students, and in order to contribute to education, the student ticket price has been set at 6.5 TL, representing a 75 percent discount on the full ticket price.

Bursa stands out as the second cheapest city in terms of student ticket prices.

In the pay-as-you-go system, the refund fee for 1-5 stations has been increased from 5 TL to 6.50 TL. The full card transfer discount fee has been raised from 8.60 TL to 11.20 TL. Citizens over the age of 65 will continue to use public transport free of charge.

In a statement made by Bursa Transportation Public Transit Management (BURULAŞ), the following remarks were included:
"Over the last six months, there have been significant cost increases in many basic expenses that directly affect transportation costs. Contrary to deliberate and misleading rhetoric that ignores the cost increases experienced in our country, as the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, we continue to consider the living standards and budgets of our citizens, and we continue our efforts in this direction. The 2024 inflation data was announced as 44.38 percent according to TUIK and 83.40 percent according to ENAG. It has become necessary to make a price adjustment at the maximum level without reflecting all of these increases to you, our valued fellow citizens. Despite all these negative conditions, we take care to keep public transport fares in Bursa at the most affordable levels compared to the rest of the country, especially so that our students and our fellow citizens under social support are not affected by economic conditions."
