The base threshold for electric cars with a motor power of under 160 kilowatts (kW), which are subject to a 10 percent special consumption tax (SCT), has been increased from 1 million 250 thousand liras to 1 million 450 thousand liras.
The Presidential Decree regarding the matter has been published in the Official Gazette and has entered into force.
With the decision, changes were made to the SCT base used as the basis for the SCT rate for passenger cars that are solely powered by an electric motor with a power output of under 160 kW.
With the decision, the base threshold for the aforementioned cars, which are subject to a 10 percent SCT rate, was increased from 1 million 250 thousand liras to 1 million 450 thousand liras.
According to the information obtained, this aims to make cars that are solely powered by an electric motor and fall within the aforementioned base threshold more accessible at a lower cost.
With this regulation, while encouraging the demand for conventional fuel-powered cars to shift toward cars with zero exhaust gas emissions, it is also intended to contribute to the reduction of environmental pollution.
