Purchase price for tea buds set at 4,000 TL

The General Directorate of Tea Enterprises (ÇAYKUR) has announced the purchase price for tea buds, which are used in the production of White Tea, also known as the Tea of Emperors. The price for tea buds, which was 1,500 TL per kilogram last year, will be 4,000 TL per kilogram this year.

In a written statement, ÇAYKUR noted the increasing demand for white tea, stating: “As an organization, we are continuing the production of white tea this year—which we have been producing by purchasing fresh tea buds from our producers since 2014—in line with increasing market demand. The purchase price for tea buds, the raw material for our 'White Elixir' white tea, which is one of our brand's prestige products, has been set at 4,000 lira per kilogram this year, up from 1,500 lira last year. We hope that our producers will show even more interest and care in the harvesting of tea buds, which requires intense effort and precision in collection, and we wish everyone a prosperous and fruitful tea season.”

Meanwhile, the tea buds, which are announced to be purchased from producers at 4,000 TL per kilogram in their fresh state, are sold by ÇAYKUR in jars under the name 'White Elixir' after processing. The current price of white tea, sold in 20-gram jars for 800 TL, reaches 40,000 TL per kilogram.
