A regulation regarding the import of certain electric vehicles has been issued by the Ministry of Trade.

According to the regulation, which entered into force upon its publication in the Official Gazette, in the event that vehicles not originating from the European Union or countries with which a Free Trade Agreement has been signed are subject to the Release for Free Circulation Regime, customs administrations will require an "Authorization Certificate" issued by the Ministry of Industry and Technology or an institution or organization authorized by it during the registration of customs declarations.

To be granted an exemption from the authorization certificate, the goods must arrive with an A.TR Movement Certificate or a proof of origin document within the scope of the relevant Free Trade Agreement.

In order for an Authorization Certificate to be issued, it must be certified by the Turkish Standards Institution (TSE) that at least 20 authorized service stations, meeting TS 12047 and TSE K 646 standards, have been established by the importer itself across 7 geographical regions for the after-sales assembly, maintenance, and repair of the goods to be imported.

Persons responsible for the purchase, sale, maintenance, and repair of electric vehicles will be required to hold a qualification certificate exclusively for the purchase, sale, maintenance, and repair of electric vehicles issued by the TSE or the Vocational Qualifications Authority.

EVERY BRAND WILL PROVIDE CALL CENTER SERVICE WITH AT LEAST 40 PERSONNEL

For each brand to be imported, service will be provided through a Turkish-language call center established in Turkey with at least 40 personnel.

The manufacturer of the goods to be imported must have an authorized representative established domestically.

A written commitment will be provided by the importer stating that they accept the procedures to be carried out regarding the monitoring, control, and inspection of battery systems.
