While the raise rate for civil servants and civil servant retirees was set at 49.25 percent, this figure remained at 37.57 percent for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees.

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced the additional raise rate expected by millions of retirees as 5 percent.

Declaring 2024 as the year of the retiree, Erdoğan announced that the lowest pension had been increased from 7,500 TL to 10,000 TL. Millions of disappointed retirees were condemned to a starvation wage.

While it is claimed that the AKP will make an additional raise covering all retirees before the local elections, a notable statement on the subject came from economist Evren Devrim Zelyut.

Speaking on a live broadcast on Sözcü TV, Zelyut said, "Inflation is rising, foreign capital is not coming, and we cannot keep the exchange rate stable. Because we cannot keep the exchange rate stable, costs in the industry are going up."

"I EXPECT A RAISE AT THE BEGINNING OF MARCH"

Responding to the question "Will there be a raise at the beginning of March?", Zelyut said, "That is why I expect there could be a raise at the beginning of March. In this environment, they will want to prevent the shift of votes to Mansur Yavaş and Ekrem İmamoğlu."
