Retail sales slowed in September

According to TurkStat data, retail sales increased by 13.8 percent on a monthly basis at constant prices. The retail sales volume decreased by 0.7 percent monthly. In August, retail sales had increased by 17.2 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) has announced the retail sales indices for September. Accordingly, the retail sales volume at constant prices increased by 13.8 percent in September compared to the same month of the previous year. In the same month, sales of food, beverages, and tobacco increased by 13.8 percent, non-food sales (excluding automotive fuel) increased by 18.6 percent, while automotive fuel sales decreased by 1.5 percent.

The retail sales volume at constant prices decreased by 0.7 percent in September compared to the previous month. In the same month, sales of food, beverages, and tobacco remained at the same level, non-food sales (excluding automotive fuel) decreased by 1.2 percent, while automotive fuel sales increased by 0.1 percent.

RETAIL TURNOVER INCREASED BY 85.7 PERCENT ANNUALLY

Retail turnover at current prices increased by 85.7 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. In the same month, sales of food, beverages, and tobacco increased by 90.2 percent, non-food sales (excluding automotive fuel) by 89.9 percent, and automotive fuel sales by 67.2 percent.

RETAIL TURNOVER INCREASED BY 4.2 PERCENT MONTHLY

Retail turnover at current prices increased by 4.2 percent in September 2023 compared to the previous month. In the same month, sales of food, beverages, and tobacco increased by 5.1 percent, non-food sales (excluding automotive fuel) by 3.5 percent, and automotive fuel sales by 5.1 percent.
