Retirees' holiday bonus loss calculated! How much should it have been at minimum?

The law increasing the retiree holiday bonus from 2,000 TL to 3,000 TL has been published in the Official Gazette.

Although AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan declared 2024 the 'Year of Retirees,' millions of retirees have been condemned to a starvation wage.

Prof. Dr. Aziz Çelik calculated the loss in retirees' holiday bonuses.

Sharing on his X (Twitter) account, Çelik stated that the retiree holiday bonus should have been at least 10,609 TL, and used the expression, "The retiree's loss for two holidays has exceeded 15,000 lira."

The legislative change regarding the 3,000 TL retiree holiday bonus has been enacted by being published in the Official Gazette by the President.

The claim (lobbying information) that the bonus would be 10,000 lira did not materialize!

Thus, the retiree holiday bonus, with a so-called 50 percent increase, has fallen from 62 percent of the minimum wage to 18 percent!
