Rising property taxes could bring a new financial burden

Recent increases in property taxes are causing widespread repercussions in the public eye.

Economist Mahfi Eğilmez, in an assessment on his personal blog, pointed out that the rise in fair market values could significantly increase both property tax and the valuable housing tax.

Eğilmez stated that this situation could leave owners of high-value real estate facing a serious financial burden.

According to Eğilmez's analysis, the amount of tax paid for a specific property under the current system could increase by approximately 7.5 times per year with the new fair market values. This increase could create a situation that strains individual budgets and leads to social backlash.

The Wealth Tax, which was implemented in the 1940s and placed a heavy burden particularly on real estate owners, has remained in memory for its injustice.

The new regulations coming to the agenda today are bringing this controversial practice from the past back to mind. Economists point out that such high tax burdens could also bring the risk of stagnation in the real estate market.
