Russia extends gasoline export ban until January 31, 2027

The Russian government has announced a new schedule for temporary restrictions on fuel exports. According to a written statement, the temporary ban on gasoline exports has been extended until January 31, 2027.

It was stated that the decision was taken to maintain stability in the domestic market. The announcement also outlined a different exemption schedule for producers regarding diesel, marine fuel, and kerosene.

Accordingly, diesel, marine fuel, and kerosene exported by producers will be exempt from restrictions starting September 1. However, the ban on gasoline exports will remain in effect until the end of January 2027.

The Russian government's statement also noted that shipments under international intergovernmental agreements would be exempt from the ban. Thus, it is expected that certain contractual and official shipments will be excluded from the restrictions.

Oil refineries in Russia have recently come to the fore following attacks by Ukraine using unmanned aerial vehicles. It is reported that some refinery facilities have been taken offline for maintenance due to the attacks, and that restrictions on fuel sales have been implemented in some regions of the country.

The Moscow administration had previously banned gasoline and diesel fuel exports as part of measures to support supply in the domestic market and maintain price stability. With the latest decision, the duration of the restriction on gasoline has been extended.
