Social Security expert provides rates: Civil servant, retiree pension, and minimum wage hikes revealed

Social Security Expert Özgür Erdursun shared his projections regarding the salary increase rates the government is considering for the minimum wage, retirees, and civil servants.

Stating that there will be no raise for the minimum wage, Erdursun predicted increases of 20 percent and 25 percent for civil servants and retirees, respectively.

Most recently, the Central Bank, in its letter to the government, had called for a single increase in the minimum wage.

Social security expert Özgür Erdursun, whose statements on working life are closely followed, stated that there will be no minimum wage increase in July.

In a message he published on his X (Twitter) account, Erdursun claimed that the raise the government plans to implement for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees in July is 25 percent.

According to the social security expert, who is well-known to the public, the raise rate for civil servants and civil servant retirees is 20 percent.

In his social media message, Özgür Erdursun also used the phrase, "If the minimum wage does not increase, other wages will not increase either."

WILL THERE BE AN ADDITIONAL MINIMUM WAGE HIKE?

AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan had confirmed in a statement made before the March 31 elections that there would be only one increase in the minimum wage for the year 2024.

Most recently, the Central Bank, in an inflation letter sent to Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, gave a message for a single minimum wage increase.

For the year 2024, the minimum wage was determined by the Minimum Wage Determination Commission as 17 thousand 2 Turkish Lira net, effective from January 1, 2024.
